CoastalScents Mini-Haul!

Hey everybody!

So I wanted to share my CoastalScents mini-HAUL!

Funny (weird) story about my 'haul'.

I took sleeping pills one night so I could go to sleep early (since class starts AT 6:30AM wtf? rite?!).

And apparently I woke up after going to bed and went to the living room, where Danny was playing video-games and grabbed my laptop and went online (specifically coastalscents.com) and made a purchase.

I didn't know remember making the purchase until it arrived.

So yeah, that was...unique.

Luckily I didn't buy too much and I really like the stuff I got.

CoastalScents is located I believe in Fort Myers, Florida.

So one great thing since I live in Miami, is I can elect the cheapest method of shipping and get it in about 2 days.

I bought, and you see can from the invoice, 2 make-up brushes and a eyeshadow primer.

I really loved the packaging!

OMG so freaking cute!

CS also included a 'I <3 Makeup" sticker which I thought was thoughtful and so fitting.

These touches make it special.

The two make-up brushes I bought were the Pro Blending Fluff brush and the Classic Detail Pointed Natural brush.

On the left:
Normally I don't like to buy 'natural' brushes because I want cruelty free brushes, but I guess while I'm under the influence I'm a heartless bitch.

I don't know how it performs because I haven't used it yet.  But it feels soft.

I have a small eyelid and barely there crease (slightly slanted lids), so I'm hoping this brush will give me access to my inner corner (I like to add a highlight there and have issues applying it b/c my brushes are too large to pinpoint that exact spot.)

On the right:

I already own this brush and like it a lot.  It's soft.  And if you don't already know, I shall have the pleasure of informing you...it's a MAC 217 dupe.

Does the same job for a fraction of the cost.

I will NEVER buy MAC brushes (even if I was filthy stinkin' rich)!

It's a total rip off and there's too many dupes out there that function at the same level.  Plus at the moment I'm a poor college student and I rather save my pennies to buy MAC lippies.

I hate it when I read comments from dumb bitches saying 'I will only use MAC brushes'.  Well guess what?  You're a total tool who blindly throws heir money in the fucking toilet.

What can I say? I appreciate value.

Needless to say... I liked it enough to repurchase it.

I wanted another b/c I can't be bothered to wash it as often as I need too.  So I opted for a second one.

Here's another picky.

On to the primer...

The primer is called Shadow Worx Classic.

It's suppose to be a primer with a sheen.

Well it has sheen but I thought it personally sucked donkey balls as a primer.

Okay, that actually might be a bit harsh.

Because I'm basing that off of its ability to prime with cream shadows which to me, is a bigger task for the primer.

But after 6 hours I had MAJOR creasing, not cute.

But there's a flip side.

It's really beautiful on it's own.

I was in a rush one day and decided after applying it that I didn't want to wear eyeshadow.

I looked in the mirror and saw that my lids had a pretty nude shimmer on them, so I just popped on mascara and went on about my business, and get this, I got 2 complements that day!

So I've been using it a lot lately on its own (easy to apply with my fingertip at 5AM...)

I'll have to test it with my powder shadows to sees how it performs, but until then all those positive reviews on CS's webshop...from a bunch of crackheads imo.

When I've worn it alone, it lasts all day.

Another great thing about CS is that they always include a sample! With my experience they're always good samples too ;)

So that's it for my CoastalScent.com mini-haul.

When I try out the detail brush and test the primer again I'll update this post.

Till then have a great week ;)

Facing Fears

So tomorrow is my first clinical rotation in the psychiatric ward of the hospital.

I'm now the taking psychiatric nursing course.

And to be honest, I'm scared.

Now before jumping to any conclusions I want to make something perfectly clear.

I'm not scared OF the patients.

I'm scared of my performance as a nurse.

I want not only to be a nurse, but a great nurse.

I want to care for all types of patients, including those who my suffer from mental illness.

I really hope I can connect, and possibly help someone tomorrow.

I hope I remember all the information that we (nursing students) were taught to prepare us for this particular patient population.

So I'm scared.

Of fucking up.

Wish me luck!

Time to face some fear!

Terrific Read

First off, Happy New Year!

I had a good NYE with Danny and friends.

I'm going to have to "recreate" my NYE look because the festivities got to me and I have no pickies that clearly display my OF.

Anyways this post isn't about looks or anything beauty related.

Since I'm on winter break (class starts back up on the 7th) I decided to catch up on my reading.

That is my reading for pleasure and not some monstrous nursing textbook.

I just (as in, within 10 minutes ago) finished a trilogy.

It was amazing!  I'm so grateful I found this hidden treasure.

I found the first book on Goodreads.

I was just online updating my lists (books to read, books I've read, and such).

Then I went to the recommendation feature, with recommends books based on books you've read and rated.

Well deep in the list (I believe it was on the Urban Fantasy list) was a book titled Mind Games.

Well I read the synopsis and the story appealed to me.

The basic summary seemed so fresh and different that I knew I was going to give the book a try.

Then I read the reviews that members of Goodreads who've read Mind Games.

They were good!

And they were right!

I'm so glad I discovered the book, it was so different (the concept) and refreshing.

I love sci-fi, fantasy, paranormal romance, but I really love urban fantasy the most.

This trilogy was great because it gave me the UF I crave without one vampire, werewolf, fairy, or 'fallen' angel.

Finally the trilogy is called:

The Disillusionists Trilogy by Carolyn Crane!!!

Here's some info and links!

Justine Jones is a hopeless hypochondriac whose life is crippled by fear…until one day when a handsome, tortured mastermind named Packard peers into her soul and invites her to join his psychological hit squad.
Justine resists until she gets a taste of the peace Packard can promise. At first, Justine enjoys being part of the thrilling world of neurotic vigilantes who battle Midcity’s paranormal criminals. Things get complicated when she uncovers certain secrets…and falls for one of her most dangerous targets.

Some secrets come back to haunt.  Others come to kill.
Serial killers with unhead-of-skills are terrorizing the most powerful beings in Midcity.  As the body count grows, Justine faces a crisis of conscience...and an impossible choice between two but flawed brilliant men-one on a journey of redemption, the other descending into a pit of moral depravity.

Justine Jones Faces Her Ultimate Enemy: Herself.
In an attempt to put her unhappy past behind her, Justine Jones throws herself into nursing school and planning her wedding to the man of her dreams.  But something is off.  Random details aren't adding up...and is it her imagination, or are her friends and fiance keeping secrets from her?  And what's with this strange sense of unease, and her odd new headaches?
Justine tries to stay upbeat as Midcity cowers under martial law, sleepwalking cannibals, and a mysterious rash of paranormal copycat violence, but her search for answers leads her into the most dangerous mind game yet.
With the help of unlikely allies, including her paranoid dad and best frenemy Simon, Justine fights her ultimate foe... and unravels the most startling mystery of all.

All the book links lead you to the Carolyn Crane's website which includes excerpts and different options to purchase the book/ebooks. (Which I HIGHLY recommend! :)
*All the book covers were taken directly from Carolyn Crane's site as well*
The author has some spin-off novellas that I've purchased for my nook and I'll also read her other book that's release which is the beginning of another series.  I'm crossing my fingers that it's just as good^^
Again this series hit me hard.
And in a good way.
It made me think
It made me dream.
I love that.
