I spoke too soon

Okay so today I'm really experiencing a FML moment.

I was really pissy to be sick last week and all and was diligent to get better before Tuesday (today) which is my clinical rotation today.

So I was good, and nursed myself back to health.  I no longer am sick.

I did everything.... I forced fluids (& peed every 5 minutes b/c of it), I took cold medicine, I took vitamins, I got plenty of rest, and I was very careful to have proper hygiene as to not infect Danny and get him sick just so he would then transfer it back to me and so on.

Well this week is a stressful one.

I have an exam this Friday and I have a scholarship interview this Thursday as well.

I also have another appointment on Wednesday.

Needless to say I'm jammed pack with shit to do this week.

And that's stressful.

Well last night after study group I came home and decided to keep studying and was sitting reading my textbook.

After about an hour I felt a tingling in the corner on my mouth.

OH FUCK NO!

I know what that means!

If your not familiar with cold sores/fever blisters I'll explain.

First off if you aren't familiar FUCK YOU, YOU LUCKY BASTARD!

Okay now that's out of the way, I'll continue.

Cold sores/fever blisters comes from my evil nemesis  the herpes virus.

Yes I said it, HERPES!

And no, asshole, not the skanky, slutty, dirty, and dick-sucking kind.

It's simplex I.  There's several strains the herpes viruses out there, like chicken pox, mono, and shingles...etc.

Anyhoo... it's quite common for people to have this virus just only us unlucky ones actually have break outs.

Usually it's caused by a cold (hence the term cold sore) or stress.

Well I was sick and have a totally stressed out week ahead of me so I was doomed from the get-go.

When I first saw it forming in the mirror last night I was pissed!  I obviously hate them because there're so fucking ugly and who the hell wants a fucking herpe on their lip?!?!?

No one, thats who.

Well, I got up today 0445 and went to clinical.  I was already given my assignment today when an instructor looked at me and asked "whats that on your mouth?"

Embarrassed I told her I got a cold sore last night.  She asked if I was taking medicine and I replied that I have some over-the-counter cream for it.

She went over to the other instructor (MY INSTRUCTOR!) and told her.

I walked over and my instructor looked at me and said... "Your out!"

I'm like "huh?"

She told me I had to leave for the day and that my cold sore could kill an immno-compromised child.

I did not argue, I just said okay.

She told me she'll see if I can go an extra day next week (to clinical rotation).

I said okay.

She said I'll need medical release saying I can work at the hospital.

I'm like "for a cold sore?"

She said yes again, because I can kill a kid.

I said okay so if I get release I can make up the rotation next week.

She goes "wait I never promised you could make it up, I said I'll try...if not you'll have to take an incomplete!"

Now I'm like "WHAT?!?!?!"

She told me to stop thinking about myself.

Bitch please!

If I already said okay to going home (because I really don't want to be responsible for hurting a kiddie) but I can't help but be concerned about my education.

If I get an incomplete I will not pass the clinical which means I have to repeat it again and I'll graduate late.  Plus I won't be in the same class as all my friends/study group.

ALL OVER A COLD SORE??!?

Seriously just don't assign me to any compromised kids that day!  I'll fucking make beds, I'll wear a mask, I'll do anything!!!

Plus it's not like I kiss the fucking kids (gross!) They're the ones who are sick.

I practice infection control and wash my hands a thousand times a day, and I know not to touch my face.  So yes I feel it's a bit extreme.

But I understand this is the school's reputation on the line, so let me make it up!

Grrrrr....

I'll try my best to get a second rotation next week...

Please send positive karma, mojo, or whatever you call it my way!

And here's a photo of my dreaded disease!
Yeah that's it!
BTW I know I look like shit, I just woke up and my roots are crazy. (I'm getting them done tomorrow!)

Here's help finding my disease.

Really?!?!?!
Seriously it's so small!!!

Oh well... I really hope I can make up my clinical time!!!!

Bye!!!

FML...Waaaaah~

I'm fucking sick!

I went to rotation on Tuesday and came home feeling like shit.

I did my best to beat it and, I usually do.

When I first feel a cold coming on I take immediate action!

This includes:

  • Drink an Emergen-C pronto! Don't know it is? Click here.
  • I take a Zicam. Again click here if you don't know what that is.
  • I drink a TON of water.
  • Go to bed early and get plenty of ZzZzZz.
After all that I still got sick!

I know I got sick from the hospital because most of my patients had respiratory infections.

I don't get sick often like once every 1 to 2 years.

But when I do....I fucking hate the world.

I get super grumpy.

I just really miss breathing through my nose.

I've gone through so many tissues it's beyond ridiculous.

I have really red nostrils and to try to combat the soreness I apply Vaseline on my nostrils which looks fucking dumb.

I was out of commission for two whole days (which included Thanksgiving).

Danny has been the best!  Taking care of me and getting my favorite chicken noodle soup. <3

I don't know how he puts up with my BS.

Today I'm going to meet up with my study group and just bare with it.

I hope everyone else enjoyed their holiday and has a great weekend.

Waaaaaaaaah!

Picture of me not sick!!! I must harness this!

I can SEE!

Last semester I noticed that reading the board or projector screen was becoming extremely difficult.

I had glasses that were prescribed for driving at night (which I never used).

So I knew it was that time again...

I went to the optometrist and when she was testing my vision she was like, "How have you been functioning?!?"

Apparently my vision is bad.

I'm near-sighted.

She showed me what my prescription would be like and I couldn't believe it!

I could see so well!  Colors were so crisp!  It was like having HD vision.

I opted for glasses.  The doctor told me I'll be back for contacts.

I'm sure she's right.  But these are baby steps.

Here's my new glasses.

I look so intelligent! Dorky-chic!

These are Raybans.

Sorry I can't remember the model number.

Only issue I have is that I don't have prescription sunglasses.

So when I'm driving, during the day, I have to take off my glasses and wear sunglasses.

Floral print sunglasses I got at Target.

So I'm pretty happy I can see!

Maybe in a year or so I'll get contacts.

TTYL.

Halloween a bit late

I've been busy in my pediatrics nursing class.  So I haven't had much time to blog.  But I've been having plenty of fun.

I went to a super awesome Halloween party!

It was themed Zombies vs. Vampires!

Although I think vampires are so much sexier than zombies I wanted the challenge of doing zombie make-up.

Here's Zombie JenniferBridgette!

So to transform into a zombie I used...

BB cream mixed with white cream make-up

Nyx jumbo pencil in Slate

Urban Decay eyeliner in Zero

MAC lipstick in RubyWoo

My Original 88 palette

Face Powder (I don't remember which kind but I think I used ELF)

and fake blood.

I bought a cheap cami at Target for like 8$.

Took it home and cut holes and ripped it up (lol was kinda therapeutic ~.~)

I smeared black and brown eyeshadow all over it and sprayed the fake blood as well.

Looking undead and lovely

The Count!

LOL So stupid a zombie with a drink and her iPhone with Hello Kitty case!

She's not going to get much!

The ebony and ivory of zombies :P

LOL this unfortunately is a horrible quality photo but it was so funny.  The host put a few barbies on the grill with lights!

Holy shit I really do look dead!  (As do my friends!)

The 2 on the end (Aerika and Kalisha) were suppose to be Edward and Bella.
Aerika did pretty good, but Kalisha and that blonde wig lol I told her she looked like Lil Kim so she came up with Kim Cullen! LOL

This party was so much fun.

Great food and drinks.  And most importantly great people.

There was a dance off (zombie vs vampires of course!)

Zombie's danced to MJ's "Thriller"

And Vampires danced to Lady Gaga's "Teeth"

And the showed down was to the song "Gandam Style"! LOL

Had a great time!
